DEI is the new Critical Race Theory is the new Affirmative Action, the terrifying idea that “standards will be lowered” to diversify our workforce. Soon your doctor/pilot/dentist is just going to be some guy off the streets and death will quickly follow. All of this is to avoid acknowledging that everything sucks because of money, Wall Street, and casino capitalism. But sure, hiring practices brought down the Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore, why not.

One of the figures behind this paranoia is Christopher Rufo, who orchestrated the election year hysteria about Critical Race Theory. I’m sure it’ll all be fine. (Also Rufo’s attack against the “elites” is funny in how effective it is, as in, every time I read a “takedown” of Rufo, the author reflexively is like “yes I know I know I went to Yale so I am part of Rufo’s problem with media.”)

Also up for discussion: Is Berlin over? Does the return of Trump mean four more years of extremely bad anti-Trump art? Audio below or at the usual podcast places. Shownotes and references after the paywall.
